Linnea Appleby

Linnea Appleby has been actively involved in management and finance industries for 28 years and self-storage for 10 years. She is the president of Sarasota, Fla.-based PDQ Management Solutions Inc., which specializes in self-storage facility management and services such as operational consulting, new-facility startup, property audits and the “Income Finder Service.” Linnea is also a past president of the Florida Self Storage Association. Linnea has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of South Florida and a background in financial planning. She is also an active member and past president of Toastmasters. She is a frequent presenter at industry conferences and writes a regular column for Inside Self-Storage magazine.

Jim Chiswell

Jim Chiswell is the president and managing partner of Chiswell & Associates LLC in Palmyra, Va., and has been involved in the self-storage industry for 26 years. He started his own consulting company in 1990, through which he has conducted countless feasibility and due-diligence studies for clients as well as prepared and presented customized manager training sessions. Prior to that, Jim was vice president of Sovran Self Storage, managing its portfolio of 34 facilities in 10 states. He is a past president of the New York Self Storage Association and has served on the board of the national Self Storage Association. Jim is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and tradeshows including Inside Self-Storage World Expos and events hosted by the national and state self-storage associations. He is a member of the Inside Self-Storage Editorial Advisory Board and has written the magazine’s “Thoughts From The Road” column for nine years. He is also a moderator for Self-Storage Talk, an online, interactive forum for the industry.

Bob Copper

Bob Copper is the owner and partner-in-charge of Self Storage 101, an industry consultancy firm specializing in all aspects of self-storage, including operational improvement, training, audits, feasibility and market studies, and due diligence. Bob has worked with hundreds of facility owners and managers to improve their sales abilities, collections techniques and overall operational expertise. As a self-storage owner, Bob has a unique perspective as it relates to working with other operators. He has provided insight to industry leaders in areas such as strategic growth, staff effectiveness, marketing, asset-value improvement and acquisitions. Bob formerly worked as a regional manager for Metro Storage, and as a district manager for Public Storage.

Jeffrey Greenberger

Jeffrey Greenberger is a partner with the law firm of Katz, Greenberger & Norton LLP in Cincinnati, where he focuses on commercial real estate and real estate litigation. He represents owners of self-storage facilities and other property types. He also has a concentration in debtor and creditor rights. Jeff is counsel to many state self-storage associations and a regular contributor to industry publications such as Inside Self-Storage. He speaks frequently at conferences and tradeshows and is a moderator for Self-Storage Talk, an online forum and community for the industry. Mel Holsinger

Mel Holsinger is the owner and president of Professional Self Storage Management LLC in Tucson, Ariz., which he founded in 2004. The company provides facility management, consulting and development services, currently operating 39 facilities throughout Arizona, California, Colorado and Texas. Mel has been involved in the self-storage industry since 1983. He serves on the Arizona Self Storage Association Board of Directors and is a member of the Inside Self-Storage Editorial Advisory Board. He is a long-standing contributor to ISS magazine and speaks frequently at industry conferences and tradeshows. He is also a moderator for Self-Storage Talk, an online interactive forum for the storage industry.

Tron Jordheim

Tron Jordheim is the director of operations for PhoneSmart, an offsite sales force that helps self-storage owners rent to more people through its call center, sales training, quality monitoring and Internet lead-generation services. Tron helped develop the PhoneSmart business from its inception. PhoneSmart creates more than 150,000 leads and reservations a year for its self-storage clients. Tron travels extensively to work with self-storage owners and managers as a sales trainer and consultant. A member of the National Speakers Association, he has conducted sessions for corporate clients and associations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Spain.

Tom Litton

Tom Litton, a well-known industry expert, heads the self-storage management division of Litton Management & Consulting Inc., which provides third-party management and consulting services to self-storage operators worldwide. He fee manages and consults regularly for clients in Australia, Canada, England, France, New Zealand, Scotland and the United States. Tom began his self-storage career during the industry’s infancy and has managed more than 150 facilities in 11 states. He was the operations manager for National Self Storage, based in Tucson, Ariz., and most recently managed the Mister Space Self Storage division of The Grupe Co., based in Stockton, Calif. A prolific writer, Tom has written more than 100 magazine articles for various self-storage publications and mainstream media, including the San Francisco Chronicle. Tom serves on the Inside Self-Storage Editorial Advisory Board and speaks regularly at industry conferences.

Brad North

Brad North entered the self-storage industry in 1989. Since then, he has excelled as an owner, general contractor, developer, general manager, trainer and consultant. He has built more than 350,000 square feet of storage for himself, and trained and consulted with thousands of owners and developers throughout the world. Brad’s company, Advantage Consulting & Management, offers complete turnkey management services, currently managing more than 1 million square feet of self-storage nationwide. Brad also provides onsite consulting, manager-training workshops, seminars and feasibility studies. He is a recognized columnist and regularly writes for industry publications. He also speaks at state and national self-storage conventions.

Eric Shanfelt

Eric Shanfelt is president of eMedia Strategist. Prior to this, he served in executive-management roles at Virgo Publishing, Penton Media and Aspire Media, and as an Industry consultant helping companies evaluate and grow their online media businesses. Shanfelt has an extensive e-media background spanning 18 years and specializes in practical, revenue-generating e-media strategies for companies.

Randy Tipton

Randy Tipton owns and operates Universal Insurance, an entrepreneurial business that provides specialized insurance coverages to the self-storage industry. Randy is a seasoned industry professional with more than 30 years of insurance underwriting, marketing and management experience. Randy attends self-storage tradeshows across the country, conducts insurance seminars, and speaks with facility owners from coast to coast. She is viewed by many as one of the leading self-storage insurance experts in the country and is called on for advice regarding coverage options. Her industry knowledge has led her to be a moderator and instructor for a variety of educational forums.
